Here's the write-up from yesterday's trip. Man, what a fun ride.
I'm playing with a new layout over there, so if it looks screwed up to you (style sheets, tables, whatever), let me know. :)
Miss Bluey, I've got a question. Your trip stats, how did you get them? GPS?
BTW, glad you had fun on the ride.

Yup, it's a Garmin V GPS. You can see it mounted to the lefthand handlebar in most of the photos. :)

Cool. I've never played with a GPS. It looks useful though.

I have always wondered if Gloria & La Gloria Rd were ridable on a street bike. Could your SV have managed?

I think the SVS could have managed, yes. Whether *I* could have managed it on the SVS, I'm not sure.
I'm uncomfortable riding the SVS on rock, due to my -- ahem -- limited inseam capabilities -- so it definitely wouldn't have been much fun for me.
IMHO, it's a doable road for someone who's capable enough to simultaneously:
- do one-lane twisties in a very low gear
- manage a heavy sportsbike on dirt
- watch for oncoming traffic around blind corners
- feel comfortable with street tires on rock road
#4 was really the dealbreaker for me on the SVS. ;) Especially since all four are no-brainers on the XT.

Wow, looks like a nice trip, I just love offroading, I once had a Suzuki RM250, just as a funbike but had to sell it a few weeks ago :'(
Great pictures too, you are a quite talented photographer :)

That she is. I've got the picture of all of the hills and the twisty road as a backround for my computer. I plan on printing it off and framing the picture for one of my rooms as well.
Keep up the great work on the pictures :)

Aw, thanks! I'm actually just mostly lucky, as far as good pictures go. I still have a lot to learn about focus/aperture/lighting/etc/etc/etc. ;)
