Well, no bike content here, other than the tenuous connection that I know Paul through riding. ;) Anyway, I wanted to write something, so here's a write up of our Alcatraz tour last weekend, as posted on another message board.

All right, I can finally make ONE announcement...

After seven and a half years of dating, Peter and I have finally accepted that we're just damn well stuck with each other.

He proposed at the Sharks game last night, after wooing me with a new jersey and three beers. :)(Forunately, the Sharks won the game)

I knew it was coming but he wouldn't let me announce it until we had the ring (which of course took FOREVER to get resized and have my great-grandmother's stone put in the setting). ;)

We're already arguing over how "no, Carolyn, we cannot base the wedding location SOLELY on whether there are good riding roads nearby"...(oh, but I just realized he never said anything about the *honeymoon* location.... )

An unexpected vacation

Sorry to cause concern. Peter's grandfather fell ill last week and we flew to Florida unexpectedly. We just got back very late last night.

Nothing bike-related, but I figure that some of you are also nerds in your late 20s/30s, and would therefore appreciate hearing about this.

Last night, while stumbling about on the world wide interweb, I found:

What does this mean?

It means that right now, on my laptop, I can play:

- Zork I
- Zork II
- Zork III
- Beyond Zork
- Enchanter
- Sorcerer
- Spellbreaker

and a whole mess of Scott Adams IF games (Mystery Fun House, Pirate Adventure, ....)

Words cannot say how happy I am. My "Lost Treasures of Infocom" box set was literally the reason that I held off on installing Mac OS X -- it only runs in Classic -- and now I have my games again!

I can make this marginally bike-related by saying that all of the games plus the interpreter take up a whopping 6MB of space, and can provide hours of entertainment on the ferry or in hotel rooms.
