I enjoyed your write up. I have lead a "Yurt Free" life so far, but know some folks that live in a yurt and have always be curious. I really liked your photos, particularly one that I think is wards ferry. Sheer cliff on the left.

Have many great rides!

The penultimate photo speaks to me. It says "I really wish I'd worn mesh gear today!" :-)

That *is* mesh gear! :D

Looks like I missed Half Dome - again. But those roads you like so much are terror inducing to me what with the drop on one side

Stoopid traveling trick: If I can manage to get into the light fixture, I just unscrew the bulb until it goes out. It's a nice, humane option as long as you remember to screw it back in again before you leave. ::coff::

Coo...really?

Armoured kevlar bikini next year, then...

Next time you are on the Highway 120 corridor near Yosemite, check out the town of Groveland, which features biker friendly locations such as the Iron Door Saloon with live music most weekends, and the Hotel Charlotte right across the street for your night's stay with a hot shower and great breakfast, plus free internet and local guide books, included with the room. Also many special events in town on weekends like the annual 49er Festival & Chili Cookoff in September. Food at Cafe Charlotte is super!

We also stayed at Yosemite Pines http://www.yosemitepinesrv.com/yosemite-lodging-cabins-yurts.html and found the stay to be wonderful. Spent the day sightseeing Yosemite and checked out Groveland in the evenings.
