I've heard Frank Raines is pretty steep and not too friendly for folks trying to spend the day putting around.

Congrats on the DRZ. I have an '04 that just suffered what I believe is a cam timing failure with under 3k miles on the clock. The DRZ has two significant weaknesses: an automatic cam chain tensioner (ACCT) that folks replace with a manual one (MCCT) and a primary nut that can back off if locktite is not applied. Both are relatively easy, cheap insurance against the potential for a significant engine failure. I figured such failures were rare and hadn't done the fixes yet. More info on these topics ad nauseum on ThumperTalk.

And as he read this over my shoulder, Tony sez; "It's kind of ironic, but this really makes me want to get a dirt bike."

Wow, can you say "trail of destruction"?

You take good "dead bike" pictures. Hope your friend is better soon.

Now THAT is a hill, I'm still not very comfortable with big elevation changes while riding off-road. Maybe 'cause we have no real hills here in the mid-west, so I get no practice :) This hill makes the hill in my last ride report (Iowa) look like a flat road LOL
